Bjorn's 50 foot or more jump!

So, this was the big one. Yep. I have no desire to jump off this cliff, fun though it might be after it was all over and I realized that I was still alive.

More weekend fun...

A few things we've done on recent weekends: staff appreciation dinner and barn dance, cliff jumping at Fernie, and our end of the summer Hawaii party (a.k.a "we miss Laura"). We had a nice dinner this year, complete with very exciting staff appreciation gifts. Belt buckles!!! I've wanted a Wilderness Ranch Belt buckle since the first year I worked at camp, and I am a very proud owner of a personalized belt buckle of my very own! In fact, I've worn it every day since then. After the dinner we went to the Great Canadian Barn Dance near Cardston. It's become a yearly ritual for us, and it's a lot of fun to sqaure dance, polka, jive, two-step, etc. It's one of my favourite events of the summer!
We went cliff jumping the next day and unfortunately it had been a late night, so I was a little tired for it, but it was still a lot of fun. I'm a bit of a chicken, but I still jumped off a few cliffs. I definitely could not jump off the highest one though! It was ridiculously high, and I certainly would probably never in my life desire to jump from a cliff like that. However, my very brave friends Kenny, Kyler, Bjorn, and Annalyn all jumped off! Thank goodness I didn't have to use my nursing skills that day, especially because I couldn't believe how many people were "drinking and diving". One guy could barely walk straight, and did a back flip off a cliff. Goodness... that's all I can say.
Our end of the year celebration was a Hawaii themed party. This was because our very good friend and coworker, Laura, was in Hawaii for the last week of camp at her friends wedding. So it was a party in honour of her. Again, we danced, had some great food, and savored each others company, as a few people were leaving the next day, including me. I had to leave asap to go camping with my family. Actually, I'm supposed to be camping right now, but it started to torrentially pour this morning, so we bailed on the lake for the day and are going out to Kimbal tomorrow.

80's party

So, we had an Eighties party one weekend, and enjoyed dancing the night away in the gazebo under the stars. We tried to bring back the crazy bright colours and wacky hairdos. It was pretty fun!

Staff Ride, etc.

The end of camp was marked by our staff ride and service on Sunday. We rode out into the forestry and rode hard. I was on my old friend Rosie, who is the first horse I ever rode at Wilderness Ranch. She is sometimes not very good, and doesn't listen when I ask her to slow down, but somehow I love her still.
The end of camp came with mixed feelings, because I was sad for the amazing summer to be over, but excited to be embarking on a new adventure to Africa! Who knows, maybe I'll be at camp again next summer and get to enjoy it all over again! I'm trusting the future into God's hands.

The End of Camp

I can't believe it is already over! Crazy! The summer was amazing and I have too many stories to tell. These pictures are from Family Camp. There were many adorable kids during our August family camp. Some highlights of the week were: having a circus themed Rodeo Day - where we played all sorts of competitive games all day; sleeping in the gazebo with some kids and staying up until 2 a.m talking; helping little kids ride a horse for the first time; putting on a fancy dinner in Martha and Garnet's house; and enjoying our very funny skits that had morphed throughout the summer into even funnier stories. It was a great week!
